Background & History

Jean Campbell developed the forerunner of "Can Do" Street, the Choices Program in 1990. Ms. Campbell used the program to help young children understand that there were areas of their lives where they had the power to make choices. The Choices Program provided children with discovery learning experiences that demonstrated the opportunities they had in choosing what they wanted to do in specific situations.

The Choices Program was designed to run on a computer. Computer usage in schools and in homes was limited at that time.

With the advent of the Internet and extensive use of computers in schools and in homes the program was redesigned in 2008 to be an animated, interactive web site called "Can DO' Street, which offers programs, games and activities that reinforce making good choices in everyday situations.
